Who I Am

My full name is Edgar Elvira-Lagunes, but most people know me by my nickname, Eddie. I am a Computer Engineering student graduating from Villanova University in December 2023. Outside of school, I work as a Software Developer. I specialize in Python, React.js, and Robotics

I love coding and working with robots, but my career journey did not start out with computers. Before I began coding, I worked at a company named College Truckers. I was a Operations and Marketing Intern, and I basically helped students move in and out of their dorms at 3 schools:

  • Villanova University

  • Haverford College

  • St. Joseph’s University

My role was specifically dubbed “campus manager”, since I led the entire move-out/move-in and summer storage process for college students. It was like running my own business, and I really enjoyed it. The second picture shows a selfie of me at one of the student storage units right before I made a delivery.

After my time with College Truckers, I worked as a Software Engineer with a startup company named Relai, where I committed to researching and developing a mobile app for a smart locker delivery platform.

Later, I gained experience working as a Software Development Intern at a B2B Accounts Receivable company named Billtrust. Here, I got my first taste of PHP, and being part of a real Agile team.

Right now, I am working as a Teaching Assistant for the Fall 2023 Operating Systems class at Villanova University. I’m also involved as a Student Counselor at SHPE. In the first picture, I am posed outside of the SHPE 2022 National Convention Center.

Since I love the work I do with computers, I’m hoping my education and experience takes me to a career in that field, and that I specifically get the opportunity to design the robots of the future!
